In the artist’s own words; "This work is an oil pastel drawing on top of a printed photograph, this is usually the first step in my process of turning the image into a ceramic photo-painting through image transfer. I make and collect these drawings similarly to keeping a diary/ journal entry. I print images from my phone and alter / adapt them into a kind of fever dream- an unreal or sublime state of dissociation that hangs on the image.
I conflate art historical references that span from Renaissance paintings to ancient artefacts with the rituals and ceremonies of girlhood online in order to create Frankensteinian representations of abstract landscapes. I often go backwards and forwards between the digital and physical, a form of transgression+degeneracy/material manipulation."
