Cristina Megía (b. 1977) is a visual artist specialising in oil on canvas. She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Sevilla and a degree in Art History from the University of Granada, the city where she has lived since 2001.
Megía’s pictorial work carries forward the legacy of the painting tradition, characterised by meticulous, refined and nuanced figuration. Drawing on her everyday and personal experiences, she addresses universal themes such as solitude, communication, time, and silence. Her work is underpinned by a constant search for light and beauty. Yet within her visual and discursive frameworks she presents contexts that are entirely contemporary, where one can perceive a dialogue with other disciplines such as cinema, photography or sculpture.
